Waiting for motivation is the trap. Motivation usually shows up after the first move, not before it. People sit on the couch waiting for the spark to walk three blocks or call the doctor or text a friend. The spark doesn’t come. It almost never does. What does come, if you let it, is the slow accumulation of small steps that proves to you you can take the next one.

Find a Group by Type
Therapeutic
Led by licensed therapists, psychologists, or clinical social workers. Includes CBT, DBT, process groups, and structured skill-building formats. Appropriate for clinical-level support.
Peer-Led Support
Facilitated by people with their own lived experience — not licensed clinicians. Built on connection, mutual aid, and shared understanding rather than treatment.
Psychoeducation
Structured programs that teach skills and information about mental health topics. Great for learning coping tools, understanding diagnoses, or building emotional literacy.
Shared Community
Open spaces for belonging, social connection, and community. Not therapy, not treatment — just people showing up for each other.

A good starting point
Or browse all groups and see what's out there.
This quiz is a starting point, not clinical advice, and taking it doesn't create a therapist-client relationship. Many people find that more than one kind of group fits, and some attend two at once. My Therapy Groups is a directory. Group leaders write their own listings, and we don't vet, supervise, or endorse them.
If you're in crisis, call or text 988. We'll be here when you're ready.

Finding a group
shouldn’t take
six browser tabs
“I built My Therapy Groups because I kept watching clients spend weeks searching for a group, and giving up before they found one.”
Therapy groups work. Peer support works. The problem isn’t the groups. It’s that no one could find them. Facebook pages go dark. Psychology Today filters cost money. Word of mouth misses people who don’t have the right words yet.
This directory exists to fix that. It’s a directory, not a clinic. Group leaders write their own listings. We don’t vet, supervise, or endorse them. We just make them findable. Groups are available across California, Texas, New York, Florida, and every state in between — covering anxiety, grief, LGBTQ+ support, addiction recovery, and more, all free to browse.
